Homework#3
Today we discussed the language of clothes. After listening to the lecture and the meaning of colors in clothing, answer the following questions:
1. Do you judge people according to what they wear? Why?
Yes, I do. If I don't know about the person, I would judge the person according to what he/she wears. It's impossible to know about his/her everything by clothing they wear, but we can get some information about him/her. If a girl wears like boy's clothing, I would think she is boyish. If a man wear all black clothing, I would think he is very cool. We can imagine him/her by clothing they wear. Although we cann't know about their everything by their clothing, we can imagine and know a little about them.
2. Do you think Japanese society puts an importance on clothing when judging other people from another country?
No, I don't think so. I think Japanese aren't interested in clothing of other people from another country but are interestend in their behavior. Their clothing aren't so different from Japanese, but their behavior are very different from Japanese. Therefore, Japanese judge other people from another country by their behavior than by their clothing.
3. What colors are you wearing now? Do they reflect your mood?
I am wearing beige sweat shirt, black skirt and brown shoes. They don't reflect my mood. I like dark color. I like black, gray, brown, beige and navy. I don't have pink, yellow and orange clothing. Even when I am very happy, I wear dark color clothing. Even in summer or spring, I wear them. I wear clothing regardless of my mood and season.
Next week we will discuss friends, please prepare by answering the following questions:
1. What are some subjects that you will never discuss with a friend?
I can talk everything with close friends, but I have never takled about my parents' salary with them. I often talk about my part-time money with my friends. I think it's normal for us to do, but talking about parents salary is not good. It's an invasion of privacy. In my opinion, parents don't want other people to know their salary because Some homes get high salaries, other homes low salaries. I will not talk about this in the future.
2. Do you have different friends for different parts of your life? If so, how are they different to you? Do you talk about different things? Go to different places? Give me some examples.
Yes, I have. I have some types of friends. I have a friend whose hobbies is similar to my hobbeis. We often talk about music, books and photos. I enjoy talking with her every time. In addition, I have a friend whose fashin is similar to me. We talk about fashion and go to shopping. Moreover, I have a friend whose fashion, hobbeies, veiws and values are different from me. However, I enjoy talking with her because I get something from her and inspire me.

Homework#1
1. "Wrapping"
Do you agree with the web site's description? What do you do that can be called "wrapping"? Give examples and reasons for your actions.
I agree with the web site's description. I think that "wrapping" is one of polite things in Japan. For example, Japanese often flatter someone on everything. Flattery is "oseji" in Japanese. I sometimes flatter my friends because I want to be disliked by my friends. However, I do not flatter familiar friends and my family because I can speak out to them. In other words, we flatter people who feel constraint, but we do not flatter people without feeling constraint. I think that this is one of "wrapping".
2."Death and Funerals"
a. Where do you go when you die?
I have never thought about this. I think that people will go to heaven. I want to believe that hell do not exist. I do not think revive, but if we can revive, it is impossible to be humans. For example, we can be animals!
b. Explain why do Japanese have death memorial services 1 month, 1 year, 3 years, 7 years, etc. after a person's death?
Because I think that Japanese do not forget people who are dead. In addition, they hold memorial services for people who are dead. There are people who do not want to remember, but we have to do. It is the only thing that we can do for people who are dead. They can rest in peace because there are death memorial services in Japan.
